Save the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge once again is under attack. President Trump wants to open it to oil and gas production, and the U.S. House of Representatives has begun the process of allowing the oil companies to have their way with the Refuge.

We just received word that the US House of Representatives voted earlier this week to begin the process of opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, and that the Senate is deciding now whether to include drilling of the Arctic Refuge in the budget.

Pennsylvania Senators Bob Casey and Patrick Toomey are key to this decision and need to hear from bird lovers like us.

This is a critical moment for the future of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the birds that depend on it. It’s also an opportunity for passionate Audubon Chapter members like you to speak for the birds who can’t speak for themselves. Birds like the iconic Tundra Swans that pass through our state by the thousands each year, stopping to rest and refuel at the world famous Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area on their journey back to the Refuge.

Senators Casey and Toomey are critical to whether or not the Arctic Refuge remains protected for these birds and millions of others—which makes your voice critical.

Please ask Senators Casey and Toomey to oppose drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge - one of the world’s greatest bird nurseries and one of America’s last truly unspoiled habitats.

Here are three ways you can contact the Senators today:

Call - Audubon’s Action Center will connect you right from this page.

Email – Take action by sending a letter to show you care.

Flyer Drop-off – Print the Refuge flyer attached to this email and drop it off at one of Senator Casey’s or Senator Toomey’s office locations.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions. If you go to one of the Senators’ offices, please do send us an email with a picture and a note about how it went. We’d love to share your stories and photos in our newsletter and on social media.

Thank you for your passion for birds and your commitment to keeping them safe!

Sincerely,

Greg Goldman, Executive Director
